The NDRC has again put pressure on samsung: memory price must be reduced

According to south Korean media reports, the national development and reform commission recently asked samsung to control the price of memory products and give priority to the supply of memory to Chinese companies.

In the past two years, the price of memory has been rising for six consecutive quarters, and the single 8GB DDR4 is approaching the 1000 yuan mark. Although it has fallen recently, it is still high.

In December last year, China's smartphone makers because memory prices, supplies, to the national development and reform commission sued samsung, development and reform commission (NDRC) immediately samsung smart pressure, and to investigate the samsung electronics, SK hynix, meguiar's big three collusion behavior whether or not there is a memory.

It is unclear what the national development and reform commission to take what further action to samsung, but if samsung really deliberately manipulated DRAM memory grain prices, the national development and reform commission is likely to refer to other countries action in this regard and take concrete measures.

"We have noticed a surge in the price of memory and will pay more attention to the future of the industry due to price manipulation," said xu xinyu, head of the NDRC's price supervision bureau.

He also made it clear that there could be a number of companies working together to push up prices and maximize profits.

"Given the size of China's semiconductor market and samsung's presence in China, it is hard for samsung to ignore the Chinese government's demands," said a south Korean semiconductor industry source.

Currently, samsung electronics is the world's largest maker of memory chips, with a market share of about 48 percent in DRAM, and about 35.4 percent in NAND flash memory market share.

Because DRAM memory particle prices have skyrocketed, samsung recently made a lot of money, and its net profit was even higher.
